Sarah Nelson rejoined the Department of Energy, Office of Inspector General (DOE OIG), as the Assistant Inspector General for Management and Administration (AIGMA) in June 2024. As AIGMA, Sarah leads the agency’s multidisciplinary team of budget, hiring, and information technology specialists and is responsible for providing policy, planning, financial, management, and administrative services to the Office of Inspector General.
Between 2004 and 2021, Sarah held numerous roles within DOE OIG, including as the Assistant Inspector General for Audits and Administration and Assistant Inspector General for Technology, Financial, and Analytics. Sarah established the OIG first program office responsible for providing data analytic support throughout the OIG. Most recently, Sarah spent the last two and a half years serving as the Deputy Inspector General for Innovation within the Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Inspector General (DHS OIG).
Sarah received a Bachelor of Science in accounting, finance, and information technology from Tennessee Wesleyan College. She is graduate of the Office of Personnel Management Federal Executive Institute and has been recognized for numerous performance and superior accomplishment awards throughout her career with the Federal Government.
