Carlos Diaz joined the Department of Energy Office of Inspector General’s Senior Executive team as the Deputy Assistant Inspector General for the Incurred Cost Audit Division in November 2024. Mr. Diaz began his federal career in 2009 with the Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA), working first as an auditor on a wide variety of audits, and later moving steadily through various supervisory and management positions throughout his 15 years with the agency. In his last position with DCAA, he served as Deputy Director, Field Detachment. In this role, he led a staff of over 400 auditors working on classified audits and other assignments within Special Access Programs and in the broader Intelligence Community, including the Department of Defense and other government agencies.
Mr. Diaz earned both a BA in Business Administration and an MBA in Materials Management and Control from Universidad del Turabo in Gurabo, Puerto Rico. Mr. Diaz has received numerous awards throughout his career, including the Secretary of Defense Medal for the Global War on Terrorism, Civilian Service Award Medal, and a NATO Medal.
