95 Grants Will Advance National and Energy Security
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced that it will award 95 grants totaling $95 million to 80 small businesses in 26 states. Funded through DOE’s Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs, today’s selections are for Phase II research and development.
Small businesses that demonstrated technical feasibility for innovations during their Phase I grants competed for funding for prototype or processes development during Phase II. In addition, prior Phase II awardees competed for sequential Phase II awards to continue prototype and process development. The median Phase II award is $1,000,000 for a period of two years.

- Abrasion/Impact Resistant Coatings for Wind Turbine Blade Protection
- Office of Fossil Energy
- Passive Acoustic Metamaterial Proppants for Advanced Fracture Diagnostics
- E-Blockchain: A Scalable Platform for Secure Energy Transactions and Control
- Office of Fusion Energy Sciences
- High Capacity, Liquid Cooled All Metal Tritium Scroll Vacuum Pump
- Micro-engineered Textured Armor for Plasma-Facing Components
- Office of High Energy Physics
- Novel Coating Technologies for Neutrino Focusing Horns
- High Efficiency Klystrons for Accelerator Applications
- Office of Nuclear Energy
- Advanced Metallic-Silicon Carbide Composite Claddings for Improved Damage Tolerance
- Remote Repair of Sealed Containers or Dry Storage Casks Containing Used Nuclear Fuel
